Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Medical Receptionist to join Medsana Medical.

Medsana Medical Clinic is a modern, state of the art General Practice located at the Freeway Office Park in Eight Mile Plains. Medsana is a family friendly, values-led multidisciplinary clinic with General Practitioners, Specialists and Allied Health Professionals providing comprehensive, outcome focused care to all ages. Medsana Medical provides a wide range of services, delivered with evidence-based medicine combined with a modern approach to personalised holistic care. Our vision is to deliver better health to our Brisbane community now and to the Pacific Islands in the medium term.

About the role:

  • Casual position

  • 15-30 hours per week (may include Saturdays)

  • Clinic trading hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 8am 5:30pm

  • Saturday: 8am – 1:30pm

  • Sunday & Public Holidays: CLOSED

  • Training will be provided

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Answering phones in timely, warm and professional manner

  • Maintaining patient database ensuring validity of all records

  • Scanning and distribution of incoming mail/paperwork

  • Ensuring the practice is presentable at all times

  • Processing Medicare billing and invoices

  • Booking and managing appointments for GPs, Specialists and Allied Health

  • Assisting Practitioners and Practice Manager when required

  • Stocking clinic and consulting rooms with office and medical supplies

  • Cleaning; dusting, wiping down desks, taking out bins, sweeping and mopping floors, etc

  • Opening & Closing practice


  • Ability to work independently

  • Able to uphold privacy and confidentiality at all times

  • Well presented with a professional and friendly attitude

  • Efficient, motivated and responsible

  • Excellent phone manner, and face-to-face customer service

  • Follow practice policies and procedures

  • Cross-cultural awareness and willingness to travel overseas if required

Preferred but not essential:

  • Experience with Best Practice software

  • Knowledge of Medicare and Private Health Insurance billing

Supplementary Pay: Penalty rates

Permitted to work permanently with no restriction on hours (e.g. citizen, permanent resident) (Required)
