ABOUT BUSHkids ORGANISATION


BUSHkids is a non-Government, not-for-profit organisation which works within local communities to support the development of children by increasing community capacity through education, prevention and early intervention programs.


BUSHkids Services


Children’s Allied Health Services are delivered at regional Centres based in Bundaberg, Dalby, Emerald, Mount Isa and Warwick, with satellite sites delivering Children and Parenting Support Services in Inglewood, Stanthorpe, Kingaroy/Nanango and Agnes Waters/Miriam Vale.


BUSHkids is the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Partner in the Community for the delivery of NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Services for Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Central Queensland areas servicing Emerald and Gladstone; with the Fraser Coast servicing Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Kingaroy and Cherbourg; and the Sunshine Coast servicing Maroochydore and Gympie areas.


BUSHkids also works in partnership with the Department of Education & Training (DET) to provide eKindy in rural and remote Queensland to ensure all children receive good quality early years opportunities prior to entering formal education.


Regional activities are coordinated by a team of support staff located in the BUSHkids offices based in Toowong, Brisbane.


PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION


The position fulfills discipline specific and multidisciplinary support within the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Team, providing services to families with children with developmental delay or disability.  The position will implement and continue to develop BUSHkids teleHealth services for families in regional Queensland areas.


As part of the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Team you will:



  • Develop goals and plans with every client inclusive of other team members involved in the care and management of that client in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach.

  • Adhere to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) statement of requirements.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Be responsible for assessment, planning, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement related to the provision of the scope of the incumbent’s discipline. 

  • Provide care when and where it best meets the clients’ needs including on site, at home and in the community. 

  • Provide a fly-in/out (FIFO) / drive-in/out (DIDO) service to regional Queensland areas (as required) to provide face to face support to families, BUSHkids team and key stakeholders. This may involve individual assessment and intervention, seminars and/or workshops. Frequency and manner (FIFO/DIDO) is dependent on the requirements and based on the Service Centres being supported. All travel costs will be covered by BUSHkids.


QUALIFICATIONS / PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS


Mandatory Requirements for this role:



  • Tertiary Qualifications in Speech Pathology

  • Certified Practicing Membership with Speech Pathology Australia

  • Working with Children Blue Card – No Card, No Start


Other requirements:



  • Current C Class Queensland Drivers Licence

  • Proof of Hepatitis B Vaccination status


The successful applicant will be required to provide the certified copies of required documentation prior to formal offer of employment.


Desirable:



  • Experience in working in childhood education, intervention or other relevant work experience

  • Experience working via telehealth pathways

  • Experience with planning, implementing and evaluating small group programs with children and/or their parents/carers

  • Experience in the provision of health promotion/community education activities

  • Experience working with families in rural, regional and remote areas

  • Experience working with families in rural, remote or Indigenous communities.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION



  • A criminal history check may be initiated on the successful applicant with the Queensland Police Service.

  • A discipline history check may be initiated on the successful applicant.

  • BUSHkids is a not-for-profit organisation – the ongoing duration of this position is dependent on available funding and at the discretion of the Clinical Services Manager according to service needs.

  • Travel and overnight stays from the centre may be required of this position.

  • A non-smoking policy applies in all BUSHkids buildings, offices and motor vehicles.

  • All staff are required to complete a 3-6 month probation period on commencement of employment.

  • As BUSHkids is a not-for-profit organisation, participation in fundraising activities may be required


KEY SELECTION CRITERIA


Clinical Practice:



  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with children with developmental delay or disability with a focus on early intervention and family centered practice


Communication/Team Participation: 



  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary for good working relationships and client care

  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.


Leadership/Work Unit Management:



  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development and ability to share knowledge and skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision and to appropriately manage time and workload
