Job Description

The Gap Early Childhood Centre has been established within the community for over 40 years.  We are seeking a passionate and confident Early Childhood Educator, on a Permanent Part Time basis, to become a part of our Kindy team. Our boutique early educational service is a small and unique early learning service, which operates 2 groups – Pre-Kindy and Kindy, so the applicant needs to be flexible, a team player and communicate effectively with all Educators.  Operating between the Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten groups we flow with a flexible indoor/outdoor program.  An integral component of our curriculum is regular (weekly) visits to the local creek, our specialised Creek Kindy program, where the children engage hands on in learning about our environment and our local community.  The successful applicant will assist our Early Childhood Teacher to deliver the Kindergarten program, educating our 4 to 5 year olds and preparing them for their schooling years.


Responsibilities:



  • To assist our Early Childhood Teacher to prepare, implement, facilitate and scaffold a child centered, engaging learning environment for the Kindergarten class based on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.

  • Incorporate areas of learning in language, literacy, numeracy, science for young learners - discovery and experimentation, our environment, health and wellbeing.

  • To show a commitment to and an understanding of the National Quality Standards and implement these in the education and care of the Kindergarten children.

  • To provide a safe, secure and fun learning environment for the children to play and learn in.

  • To bring an enthusiasm, passion and a genuine love of learning and working with children to the teaching environment. 

  • Ensure health & safety standards are constantly maintained at a high standard at all times.

  • Supervising children and working collaboratively with our Early Childhood Teacher and other colleagues.

  • The ability to follow and implement Centre policies and procedures.

  • To work collaboratively and productively with our educating team, maintain strong communication at all times with children, educators, families and the Management Team


Your qualifications & experience will include:



  • Cert III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

  • Current Approved Working with Children Check.

  • Current First Aid, Child Protection and Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate.

  • Experience in an Early Childhood setting (ideally Preschool/Kindergarten room)

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
