Job Description


A Spray Operator is required by K&S Contracting QLD the position is 38+ hours a week and will involve assisting our Pest Management Officers to undertake weed control on roadsides, reserves, private land and seasonal fire duties.


The opportunity is Kingaroy or Gympie based with travel required as required.


The Duties:


All aspects of pest weed control such as-



  • Surveys and treatment of prohibited, restricted and environmental weeds

  • Vegetation management on roadsides and near infrastructure

  • Use of Quiksprays and manual spray equipment

  • Use of Chainsaws, Brushcutters and manual hand tools

  • Working in hot humid conditions, steep, and rough terrain

  • Hazard reduction burning, wildfire response and surveillance


The Requirements:


The successful applicant must have:



  • Experience in a similar role including weed control, vegetation management, farming, forestry or local government works

  • Knowledge of weed species and treatment methods

  • White Card

  • A high level of physical fitness with the ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions

  • Availability to work away as required

  • The proven ability to pass pre-employment and on-going random drug and alcohol testing

  • The ability to comply with the Company’s smoke free workplace policy

  • The ability to implement the Company’s safety, quality and environmental practices to Australian and International standards

  • A strong commitment to team performance and communication

  • A high level of self-motivation with an excellent work ethic

  • Minimum “C” class driver licence


Desired:



  • ACDC Licence

  • Implement traffic management plans (Formerly traffic management level 2)

  • Chainsaw Level 2

  • Experience as a fire crew member or the willingness to complete training provided.
