Job Description



Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation is a small, not for profit organisation located in Melton South. Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation provides services to the local Aboriginal communities in Melton and surrounding areas. At Kirrip we respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the Aboriginal land on which we gather. Through our community at Kirrip we will continue to build a respectful and honest place for our community to gather and continue the work of those that came before us, our ancestors, and Elders to create a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.


Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation has a strong Committee of Management (COM) which is responsible for strategic direction and decides on policies for the organisation. Executive Officer is responsible for the employment and supervision of the Community Development Officer.


About the role


Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation seeks an energised Community Development Officer, who will be instrumental in planning, developing, and executing community programs and building partnerships in the Aboriginal community.


Reporting to the Executive Officer, this is a key role that supports our strategic plan to promote cultural and social participation and community development.


The Neighbourhood House Community Development Officer is responsible for implementing Kirrip’s strategic plan and the coordination of the daily operations of Kirrip House. The role requires proven communication and planning skills, a strong ability to build rapport with stakeholders, and a passion for Aboriginal community.


This position is to commence immediately and is an ongoing part-time position.


This Aboriginal identified position is a special measure under section 12 of the Victorian Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
